While staying at the Pacifica Graduate Institute for a series of lectures in the winter of 2007, Marion Woodman agreed to sit down with film director Russ Spencer to discuss the relationship between psyche and soma. Woodman has written extensively about this subject, but never before expressed her feelings on camera. With her trademark combination of zest, lucidity and incredible insight, she delved into her belief in image and symbol as the connector between psyche and soma. It is this - the sacred metaphor - that is so often missing from modern life, and leads to illness both in the mind and body, she says. By paying attention to the image found in dream and myth, she believes, one can begin to bring health and unity to the body and mind, so that they work in concert. With surprising vulnerability, she goes on to discuss this particular moment in her own life, when advancing age leaves her at a loss to understand her own future.
